Dan Jolley Joins Seventh Star Press Author Family

Seventh Star Press is proud to announce Dan Jolley as the latest addition to our author family, with his cross-genre Gray Widow Trilogy.  A prolific writer who has numerous credits in the book, comic, gaming and video game worlds, Dan is going to be a tremendous addition to the Seventh Star Press family.

The first book of the Gray Widow Trilogy, Gray Widow's Walk, will be released in early 2016 in softcover and eBook formats.  The cross-genre trilogy, with a mix of science fiction, thriller elements, and dark fantasy, and featuring a captivating female protagonist, will feature brand new cover art from Enggar Adirasa.

About Gray Widow's Walk

“The only thing in this world you can truly control is yourself.”

Janey Sinclair’s ability to teleport has always been a mystery to her. She tried for years to ignore it, but when tragedy shatters her life, Janey’s anger consumes her. She hones her fighting skills, steals a prototype suit of military body armor, and takes to the streets of Atlanta, venting her rage as the masked vigilante dubbed “the Gray Widow” by the press.

But Janey’s power, and her willingness to use it, plunges her into a conflict on a much grander scale than she had anticipated.

Soon she encounters Simon Grove, a bloodthirsty runaway with a shapeshifting ability gone horribly wrong…

Garrison Vessler, an ex-FBI agent and current private defense contractor, who holds some of the answers Janey’s been searching for…

And Tim Kapoor, the first person in years with a chance of breaking through Janey’s emotional shell—if she’ll let him.

But as Janey’s vigilantism gains worldwide attention, and her showdown with Simon Grove draws ever closer, the reason for her augmented abilities—hers and all the others like her—begins to reveal itself. Because, high above the Earth, other eyes are watching. And they have far-reaching plans…

Gray Widow’s Walk is book one of the Gray Widow Trilogy, to be followed by Gray Widow’s Web and Gray Widow’s War.

Cover Reveal for Steven L. Shrewsbury's Born of Swords, the New Gorias La Gaul Novel!

Seventh Star Press is proud to reveal the cover by Enggar Adirasa for Born of Swords, the new Gorias La Gaul Novel from Steven L. Shrewsbury.

Born of Swords will make it's debut at Hypericon, a speculative fiction convention in Nashville TN June 19-21, and then be made available in all eBook formats and print the following week.

Born of Swords is the latest novel starring the iconic hero Gorias La Gaul, returning readers to the world unveiled in the novels Overkill, Thrall, and the short story collection Blood and Steel: Legends of La Gaul.

What makes a legend but the stories told about him? Interviewing Gorias La Gaul, the biggest legend of them all, is a dream come true for young scribe Jessica. Where other girls her age would swoon beneath the steely gaze of the warrior, Jessica only has eyes for his mouth, and the tales that come from it...when he takes a break from cursing or drinking.

Unfortunately for Jessica, Gorias doesn’t really have time to babysit. She’s found him in the midst of an annual pilgrimage of sorts, and though he agrees to let her come along, it’s not without a warning: You may not like what you see and hear. Just don’t come crying afterward.

Whether viewing past visions with magical gemstones or jumping into the fray alongside the barbarian, Jessica’s about to get firsthand accounts she won’t soon forget...and discover legends are far from reality, and just as far from being pretty. You wouldn’t expect a youth of love and friendship from the greatest killer to walk the Earth, would you?

These are tales of some of Gorias’ earliest days, back before he’d found his swords, to a time when a dragon needed killing. Tales back before his heart had hardened. Maybe. For most men, the future is not certain and the past is prologue. For a legend like Gorias La Gaul, even the past is up for debate. One thing is for certain about these tales. They will be bloody.  Such is always the way for a man...

Born of Swords...

Elizabeth Donald Joins the Seventh Star Press Family With Compendium of Nocturnal Urges Novels!

Seventh Star Press is proud to announce Elizabeth Donald as the latest addition to our author family with a new compendium containing her highly-acclaimed Nocturnal Urges novels! Featuring brand new cover art by A. Christopher Drown, the release is set for late March and will bring Elizabeth's popular series back into eBook and print editions for fans worldwide!

"We are thrilled to have Elizabeth join the Seventh Star Press family as we move into a new and exciting phase at the press," commented Seventh Star Press representative Stephen Zimmer.  "She is one of the most well-loved authors on the convention circuit, by both readers and peers alike.  Her exceptional talents as a writer are well-established.  We couldn't be more excited to have this great series and world-class author find a home with us."

The forthcoming release will contain the novels Nocturnal Urges, A More Perfect Union, and Abaddon, the original three installments in the Nocturnal Urges series. The series features an alternate version of present-day Memphis in which vampires walk among us, but are not treated as our equals. They work the night shift, the jobs no one else wants, and they’re not too happy about it. Meanwhile, humans take advantage of the pleasures vampires can provide, but call them friends? Lovers? The gap between human and vampire stretches wide as death rises in the streets of Memphis.

Synopsis of the three novels included in this compendium:

Nocturnal Urges: It’s the most popular club in the Memphis nightlife. Part legal bordello, part feeding ground for the city’s vampires, Nocturnal Urges offers pleasure and pain in one sweet kiss. It’s the ultimate addiction: both drug and sex at once. For the vampires, it’s the only way to survive in a world where the creatures of the night are a dark underclass, ignored until the humans need another fix.

Into this world comes Isabel Nelson, a young woman seeking only a night’s pleasure. But after Isabel’s lover takes her to try the bite, she cannot stop thinking about Ryan, the dark vampire with whom she shared her lifeblood - and who is now suspected of murder. Isabel falls into a world where passion and love are miles apart, where life and unlike have little meaning… and someone is hunting in the shadows.

A More Perfect Union: Samantha Crews has lived a long time in the shadows of Memphis, working at Nocturnal Urges and hiding from the vampires that darken her past.

Det. Anne Freitas is stuck with a new partner, a young woman with a chip on her shoulder. Now they’re assigned to investigate a series of threats against congressional candidate Robert Carton, for whom Samantha volunteers.

But Samantha is falling for Danny Carton, the candidate’s son - an idealist who wants to make life better for humans and vampires alike. But there’s a lot Danny doesn’t know about Samantha.

He doesn’t know she’s a vampire.
He doesn’t know she works at Nocturnal Urges.
He doesn’t know his own father is one of her clients.
And he doesn’t know what’s stalking her…

Abaddon: Abbadon. The Lady Zorathenne requests the honor of your presence at a celebration. A toast, if you will. Followed by a feast.

Beneath the dark Memphis streets, something is stirring. Filled with ancient fury. Seeking revenge on the ones who live above. A revenge born in fire.

The fires are ranging in Memphis and no one is safe. Ryan and Samantha must descend into darkness beyond their imagining to find answers to the mysteries of the past, as Detectives Freitas and Parker seek the truth about the present.

And the return of an old foe could make the future a dark place indeed… save for the flames of Abaddon.

Her new short story collection, Moonlight Sonata, will be released in 2015 from New Babel Books. Other projects on their way include Banshee’s Run, a science fiction adventure novel.

Find out more about Elizabeth and her work at elizabethdonald.com!

Here’s what some reviewers have had to say about the Nocturnal Urges series…

“Gripping and raw with intense emotion and great characters… This vampire world and its characters are created so realistically you almost expect to hear about them on the evening news, and not be able to sleep afterwards.” — Coffee Time Romance

“ An old-fashioned whodunit with the violence we’ve come to expect in any vampire novel; a love affair against the odds; and a vampire with a tortured past… definitely a keeper!” — Vampire Book Club

“One can never fully prepare for the onslaught of a Donald novel. I should have known that… The tension increases throughout, making it impossible to set aside this book until reaching the last page.” — Author Kit Tunstall

“Not a romance by any means… a story of loss and revenge. A story of love and a hate that has lasted for a hundred years and that will not be denied. It is a story of fire. The fire of the human and the vampire hearts… A storytelling ability to rival that of Stephen King.” — Enchanting Reviews

“The unexpected way this story evolves is magnificent. If you, like me, are enamored with vampires, then this is the book for you.” — Coffee Time Romance

“Elizabeth Donald once again takes readers on a remarkable ride through the shadowy world of vampires, while exploring some of the darker sides of humanity… This is a beautifully-written book with an enormous amount of depth and detail that really bring Ms. Donald’s vampires to life.” — JERR magazine

“Funny, scary, passionate and quirky… worth the price of admission!” — Ecataromance.com

“Enthralling and dark with danger, suspense and sex, Nocturnal Urges is a must-read for vampire fans.” — Romance Reviews Today

She has worked as a 2D artist in the game development industry since 2006, and has recently branched into creating illustrations and exhibiting her traditonal artworks in group exhibits.

She's also a part of two local organizations, "Ang I.n.K" (Illustrador ng Kabataan - a group that promotes the rights and artworks of artists in children's book illustration industry) and "Kasibulan" (Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan - a group composed of filipina artists in different fields and genres of visual, literary, and performing arts.)

Three exceptional authors will be spotlighted in the first wave of  releases from Seventh Starlight, Alexandra Christian, Crymsyn Hart and Siobhan Kinkade.

Alexandra "Lexxx" Christian
Alexandra "Lexxx" Christian's work primarily involves paranormal erotic romance and horror. Lexxx is a native South Carolinian who has published several novels, novellas and short stories with Ellora’s Cave, Purple Sword Publications, Mocha Memoirs Press and most recently, Seventh Star Press.

Crymsyn Hart
Crymsyn Hart is a best-selling author who has written over eighty novels all falling in the paranormal romance, supernatural, dark fantasy erotic category.  Her latest is the Seventh Star Press release Death's Dance, Book One of the Deathly Encounters Series. With a love of the macabre and a bit of a Goth, Crymsyn worked as a psychic medium while she went to college in Boston at one of the country’s oldest tearoom. She attended Emerson College and graduated with a degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing.

Siobhan Kinkade
Pronounced Shi-von, Siobhan Kinkade originally started out as a Dungeons & Dragons character. True story! She was an obnoxious little blonde-haired, violet-eyed half-elf rogue who had a bad habit of screaming at random and stealing things from her fellow travelers. She made the transition from fantasy RPG character to fantasy literary character in 2011. S.H. Roddey wrote a story out of her usual genre, and she decided she needed a pen name rather than confuse her audience. The romance is strong with this one. Some is sweet and some is spicy. It’s about half and half on the paranormal/contemporary fields, and all of it is quite good!

Fans of romance and speculative fiction everywhere should look to the stars, as Seventh Starlight will be shining down upon the book world very soon!

Cover Art and Illustration Reveal for Stephen Zimmer's The Undying Light!

Seventh Star Press is proud to unveil the brand new cover art from Matthew Perry for The Undying Light, Book Four of the Rising Dawn Saga from award-winning author Stephen Zimmer.

The Undying Light will be released in eBook and softcover formats at the end of June.

The Undying Light continues the cross-genre saga as the darkness of the Abyss spreads across a world in turmoil.   Reeling from a pandemic, economic instability and a war between the world's greatest powers, people of all nations look with hope toward a fast-rising light who leads the World Summit's Peace Commission: Kaira Antipalos.  Those closest around her know that she is the realization of the Convergence, the final step in bringing the entire world into one political and economic order.

The UCAS is now divided as the fire of revolution sweeps across the south and midwest.  Rebel provinces uniting in common cause prepare for the inevitable response of a wounded, angered UCAS government; one that tightens its hold upon its remaining territory with force, unprecedented surveillance and the new technology called Living ID.

Within this time of conflict and fear, individuals must choose to make their own stands:  Among them, Benedict makes his way from UCAS territory carrying the knowledge of a horrifying discovery about the Nephilim made while in UCAS detention. Gregory leads rebel forces along the borders of the free provinces.  Skylar uses her rare gift on behalf of the Shield Maidens to go on an unusual quest, one with implications for every living thing in the world.

Time is running ever shorter as Diabolos presses the war that began before time itself.  As realms of all natures fall under the shadow of the Abyss and the power of Death itself is brought to fullness, the only thing that stands in the way of Darkness' final victory is the Undying Light.

About the author: Stephen Zimmer is an award-winning author and filmmaker whose works include cross-genre Rising Dawn Saga, the epic fantasy Fires in Eden series, the Hellscapes short stories, the steampunk Harvey and Solomon Tales, and the sword and sorcery Rayden Valkyrie stories.  Stephen resides in Lexington and can be found at www.stephenzimmer.com  You can also follow him on Facebook at www.facebook.com/stephenzimmer7 or twitter @sgzimmer

Cover Reveal for Peter Welmerink's New Zombie-filled Thriller Transport!

Seventh Star Press is proud to reveal the new cover art by Jason C. Conley for Peter Welmerink's Transport, the first book of an exciting new post-apocalyptic trilogy by the same same!

Transport brings together the elements of a military thriller and zombie-laced horror in a character-driven adventure and will be released in print and all eBook formats in May. The book will also feature a pair of brand new interior illustrations from internationally renowned artist Tim Holtrop.

Transport tells the story of the HURON, a 72-ton heavy transport vehicle and an army of four; tracked, racked and ready to roll, to serve and protect the walled metropolis of Grand Rapids—both her living and her undead. Captain Jacob Billet and his crew patrol the byways, ready for trouble.

William Lettner, the North Shore Coalition High Commissioner, has enemies from the mainland to the lakeshore and needs to be covertly transported home after his helicopter is shot down en route to Grand Rapids. He has no love for a city that give unliving civilians the right to survive. Lettner’s venomous outbursts assaults Billet and his crew along every mile travelled as they are assigned to safely bring him through the treacherous landscape outside the city back to his hometown.

The HURON and her crew will have to face domesticated zombies and the feral undead; marauders holding strategic chokepoints hostage; barricaded villages fighting for survival, and a group of geneticists who've lost control of one of their monstrous experiments if they want to complete their mission.

The crew will need to stay strong and trust one another in order to finish the mission and bring their “precious” cargo home, even knowing, all the while, the terrible deeds Lettner has done.

Travelling through West Michigan was never so dangerous.

Peter Welmerink has been published in various online and wood pulp publications, mainly in the realms of Dark Fantasy and Sword & Sorcery. Peter’s biggest novel endeavor to date was a collaborative effort with Steven L. Shrewsbury, entitled Bedlam Unleashed. His most recent published short story prior to Transport was published in Fading Light: An Anthology of the Monstrous. His is married with a small barbarian horde consisting of three rambunctious boys.

Kingdom will be released as a second edition by Seventh Star Press during the summer of 2014, with future Tiber City novels to follow!  It will be issued in trade paperback in all eBook formats.

Original cover of 1st
edition of Kingdom
Kingdom became an indie book sensation in 2012, when Kirkus Reviews made it one of their top 25 Indie Books of 2012, saying this about the novel: "A taut, brilliantly conceived thriller with impeccable pacing bursting with ideas...For fans of noir-laden science fiction in the vein of Philip K. Dick that is in equal measures suspenseful, gripping, darkly funny and philosophically challenging."

Kingdom takes the reader into a secret laboratory hidden under the desert, where a covert bioengineering project—codename “Exodus”—has discovered the gene responsible for the human soul.

Somewhere in the neon sprawl outside the nation’s collapsing economic core, a group of renegade monks are on the verge of uncovering a secret that has eluded mankind for centuries.

In a glittering tower high above the urban decay, an ascendant U.S. Senator is found dead—an apparent, yet inexplicable, suicide.

And in the streets below, a young man races through an ultra modern metropolis on the verge of a violent revolution....closing in on the terrible truth behind Exodus—and one man’s dark vision for the future of mankind.

Welcome to Tiber City.

Obsessed with Dystopian/noir fiction, the Clash, and his two sons, Anderson O’Donnell holds an undergraduate degree in English from the College of the Holy Cross. He has studied creative writing extensively with biopunk genre master Jack O’Connell and poet Robert Cording, whose work influenced Kingdom’s high/low culture dynamic. Anderson lives in Washington, DC, with his family.

SSP Proudly Reveals Cover Art and Release Information for Selah Janel's Olde School!

Seventh Star Press is proud to reveal the cover art by Jason C. Conley for Selah Janel's Olde School, Book One of the cross-genre series The Kingdom City Chronicles!

Olde School introduces you to Kingdom City, which has moved into the modern era. Run by a lord mayor and city council (though still under the influence of the High King of The Land), it proudly embraces a blend of progress and tradition. Trolls, ogres, and other Folk walk the streets with humans, but are more likely to be entrepreneurs than cause trouble. Princesses still want to be rescued, but they now frequent online dating services to encourage lords, royals, and politicians to win their favor. The old stories are around, but everyone knows they’re just fodder for the next movie franchise. Everyone knows there’s no such thing as magic. It's all old superstition and harmless tradition.

Illustration by Jason C. Conley for
Selah Janel's Olde School
Bookish, timid, and more likely to carry a laptop than a weapon, Paddlelump Stonemonger is quickly coming to wish he'd never put a toll bridge over Crescent Ravine. While his success has brought him lots of gold, it's also brought him unwanted attention from the Lord Mayor. Adding to his frustration, Padd’s oldest friends give him a hard time when his new maid seems inept at best and conniving at worst. When a shepherd warns Paddlelump of strange noises coming from Thadd Forest, he doesn't think much of it. Unfortunately for him, the history of his land goes back further than anyone can imagine. Before long he'll realize that he should have paid attention to the old tales and carried a club.

Darkness threatens to overwhelm not only Paddlelump, but the entire realm. With a little luck, a strange bird, a feisty waitress, and some sturdy friends, maybe, just maybe, Padd will survive to eat another meal at Trip Trap's diner. It's enough to make the troll want to crawl under his bridge, if he can manage to keep it out of the clutches of greedy politicians.

Olde School will be released in eBook formats, including for the Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and iBookstore tomorrow, with trade paperback to be available next week!

About Selah: Selah Janel has been blessed with a giant imagination and a love of story since she was little and convinced that fairies lived in the nearby state park or vampires hid in the abandoned barns outside of town. Learning to read and being encouraged by those around her only made things worse. Her work ranges from e-books to traditional print, and she prefers to write every genre at once rather than choose just one. The stories Holly and Ivy, The Other Man, and Mooner are available online through Mocha Memoirs Press. Her work has also been included in The MacGuffin, The Realm Beyond, Stories for Children Magazine, The Big Bad: an Anthology of Evil, Thunder on the Battlefield: Sorcery, The Grotesquerie, and the short story collection Lost in the Shadows, co-written with S.H. Roddey. She likes her music to rock, her vampires lethal, her fairies to play mind games, and her princesses to have adventures and hold their own.

Cover Reveal for Hades Disciples by Best-Selling Author Michael West!

Seventh Star Press is proud to reveal the cover art from award-winning artist Matthew Perry for Hades Disciples, the 2nd Book in the acclaimed Legacy of the Gods series from best-selling author Michael West!

Hades Disciples takes you on the urban/dark fantasy journey that began in Poseidon's Children. Terrifying creatures exist all around us, hiding in plain sight. Ancient. Deadly. They gather in secret, conspiring, dreaming of nothing less than humanity's destruction, and their numbers are growing.

Earl Preston knows the danger all too well. After tangling with a horde of mythological sea monsters in Colonial Bay, he has been tasked with finding these beasts and exposing their plans whatever they may be. But Earl is not the only one with a mystery on their hands. At the very top of the world, Carol Miyagi has stumbled onto an artifact from Earth's past, something magnificent held captive in a prison of ice and snow. Now, Carol and Earl must work quickly to decipher the will of the gods--a plot that defies imagination--and to stop their followers from carrying it out.

They thought the nightmare was over, but they are about to discover that the horror has only just begun.

Regarding the upcoming release of Hades Disciples, Michael West commented, "Whenever I write a story, I hope it appeals to people, that the characters will feel real and connect with my readers, and I am so pleased that readers all around the world have fallen in love with my Carol, Earl, and the rest of my diverse cast. With Hades' Disciples, I get the chance to dive more deeply into the mythology introduced in Poseidon's Children, and the stakes are much higher now. Fans who thrilled at all the action, excitement and twisted weirdness of Book One will not be disappointed."

Hades Disciples will be released in late April in trade paperback and all eBook formats, including Kindle, Kobo, Nook, and for the iBookstore.  The book will feature new interior illustrations from Matthew Perry and also brings back Poseidon's Children editor Amanda DeBord.
