Poetry for the Soul by J L Muvlihill

OF DRAGONS AND WIZARDS

The wizard held his staff up high,
as lightening cracked and sparks fell from the sky.

His dark robes billowing in the wind,
his hair wild and white as the beard on his chin.

His face weathered and marked by time,
and uttering from his lips he spoke only one line.

An ancient verse very few have heard,
but he yelled it with such passion accentuating
each word.

High above a dragon raged and flew with icy speed,
with silvery skin,
enormous wings,
and blazing eyes of green.

The wizard cast a spell and sent it flying toward the sky,
the spell hit the dragon in the heart as the monster
glided by.

The dragon screamed and bleated his defiance at this,
as fire spilled from his mouth but the wizard it did miss.

Still the lightening cracked and it began to rain,
the dragon filled with rage screamed out in pain.

The wizard’s spell cast upon the beast,
had bound it at last and its body fell to the trees.

In sorrow the wizard watched as the dragon drew
last breath,
and faded slowly into the slumber and at last into death.

His task now completed the last dragon gone but at
what cost,
no more dragons,
no more wizards,
soon the magic too would be lost.

For each one feeds upon the other,
the wizard without the dragon so like love without
the lover.

War no more will the dragon wage,
peace no more will the wizard gauge.

A dying breed they both have been,
both to lose no one to win.

He turned and walked away head bent to hide
            his sorrow,
no one to see his tears his greatness gone on
            the morrow.

No more as a wizard would he stand,
all anyone will see now is a broken old man.

So ends the magic of dragons and wizards for only
legends they be,
memories of them kept alive through songs,
stories,
and reflective poetry.

Cover Reveal for Elizabeth Donald's Nocturne Infernum!

Seventh Star Press is proud to reveal the brand new cover art from brand new cover art by Aaron Drown for Elizabth Donald's brand new compendium Nocturne Infernum!

To be released in Print and eBook editions on March 24th, Nocturne Infernum is a compendium containing Elizabeth's novels Nocturnal Urges, A More Perfect Union, and Abaddon.

Nocturne Infernum takes you into an alternate Memphis, vampires are a dark underclass whose bite offers pleasure and pain in one sweet kiss. Humans take advantage of the pleasures vampires can provide, but call them friends? Lovers? The strain between human and vampire grows as death rises in the streets…

Here's what's included in Nocturne Infernum:

Nocturnal Urges
It’s the most popular club in the Memphis nightlife, part legal bordello, part feeding ground for the city’s vampires. It’s the only way for them to survive in a world where the creatures of the night are mistreated and ignored until the humans need another fix.

A More Perfect Union
Freitas is stuck with a new, troublesome partner when she is assigned to investigate a series of threats against congressional candidate Robert Carton. Samantha Crews volunteers at the campaign with Danny Carton, an idealist who wants to make life better for humans and vampires alike.

But there’s a lot Danny doesn’t know about Samantha.

He doesn’t know she’s a vampire who works at Nocturnal Urges.

He doesn’t know his own father is one of her clients.

And he doesn’t know what’s stalking her…

Abaddon
The Lady Zorathenne requests the honor of your presence at a celebration.
A toast, if you will. Followed by a feast.

Beneath the dark Memphis streets, something is stirring. Filled with ancient fury. Seeking revenge on the ones who live above. A revenge born in fire.

Ryan and Samantha must descend into darkness to find answers to the mysteries of the past, as Freitas and Parker seek the truth about the present.

And the return of an old foe could make the future a dark place indeed…
save for the flames of Abaddon.

Here is what others have had to say about Transport:

"Do you need a zombie fix right now? Pickup Transport, you'll have to strap in for the ride, cause it is deadly!"- Amazon.com Reader Review
"To successfully create such a story any more, there must be unique elements to make the new tale stand out from the countless others out there. Transport succeeds in this endeavor and provides a zombie story not quite like ones you have seen previously." - Amazon.com Reader Review

"It was not at all your typical zombie story. It was fast paced, intense, awesome characters and a great plot. I really enjoyed this book, I think it would appeal to anyone who loves Zombie tales as well as horror fans. I think it will also appeal to people who like apocalyptic tales. I am very impressed with the caliber of the writing in this one. Well Done!" - Amazon.com Reader Review

Synopsis: The HURON, a 72-ton heavy transport vehicle and an army of four; tracked, racked and ready to roll, to serve and protect the walled metropolis of Grand Rapids—both her living and her undead. Captain Jacob Billet and his crew patrol the byways, ready for trouble.

William Lettner, the North Shore Coalition High Commissioner, has enemies from the mainland to the lakeshore and needs to be covertly transported home after his helicopter is shot down en route to Grand Rapids. He has no love for a city that give unliving civilians the right to survive. Lettner’s venomous outbursts assaults Billet and his crew along every mile travelled as they are assigned to safely bring him through the treacherous landscape outside the city back to his hometown.

The HURON and her crew will have to face domesticated zombies and the feral undead; marauders holding strategic chokepoints hostage; barricaded villages fighting for survival, and a group of geneticists who've lost control of one of their monstrous experiments if they want to complete their mission.

The crew will need to stay strong and trust one another in order to finish the mission and bring their “precious” cargo home, even knowing, all the while, the terrible deeds Lettner has done.

Travelling through West Michigan was never so dangerous.

Transport is the first book of the Transport series!

Here is what others have had to say about Hunt for the Fallen:

An excellent follow up to book one by Welmerink. Well written with loads of action and solid story line. A must read for fans of military fantasy, West Michigan and Zombies!" - Amazon.com Reader Review
Synopsis: Captain Jacob Billet

Journal Entry - Sunday April 5, 2026

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the undead are roaring…

Amassed at the UCRA east end enclosure, the dead strain the fence line while soldiers keep watchful eyes, the survivors on the opposite side of the rising river about to lose their minds.

It’s a crazy time: nonstop precipitation; everyone's up in arms; paranoid city council members with an asshat City Treasurer. Water, water everywhere. Zees dropping into the churning drink. Troops afraid of being stitched up and thrown back into the fray as Zombie Troopers. Tank commanders getting itchy to head out on their own after drug-laden shamblers. Reganshire insurgents trying to extract our west side civvies for some unknown reason, possibly pushing the city into taking heavy-handed action against them.

Then there’s some black-haired dead dude staring at me through the fence, grinning like he’s off his meds.

And I thought Lettner was a headache.

All this sh*t might give me a heart attack.

Blue travels to Bloomington to break the news to Chip in person, but her timing couldn’t be any worse.

The Sisters of Baalina, vengeful cultists who practice a new form of “techno-magic,” have targeted Chip’s multi-player videogame as the perfect environment to cast a dangerous spell to free a demoness from the very pits of hell. In the process, their plan may trap Blue in a prison of the mind with no locks, no bars, and no escape.
